How the fuck did Colin Trevorrow get ahold of 2 massive franchises after making only one film?

Trevorrow made a short film and a documentary beforehand but Safety Not Guaranteed (2012) was his first real movie. It wasn’t great, but it had an interesting concept and he got some good performances out of Audrey Plaza and Mark Duplass. Immediately after that he made Jurassic World, which was a massive success. This helped him land Star Wars IX, but then he made The Book of Henry (2017) which is far and away one of the worst films I’ve ever seen. So he D&D’d himself and lost Star Wars and he went back to Jurassic Park stuff. How did this guy have the trajectory that he did? It’s not like he’s THAT good a director. Is he just easy to control from a management stand point? What’s the deal? via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3hMZfJJ
