What acclaimed filmmakers haven't made a film in years because no one will fund their type of films any more?

More and more filmmakers who used to be theatrical mainstays in decades past are turning to Netflix/Amazon etc. because studios don't perceive them to be financially viable in the modern era so I'm curious what names other than the few I've seen aren't making movies any more not because they don't want to, but because they can't via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3oJo1hC
