I find myself getting increasingly annoyed at films with lazy/unearned twists in them and it feels like so many films these days just shove a twist/reveal in them without any need for it.

Obviously this will be a spoiler heavy topic so I'll keep specific spoilers to the comments but I absolutely hate it when a film has a twist or reveal that either; only makes sense because the film has mislead you or straight up lied you, or adds absolutely nothing to the film and is just their to make the filmmaker seem really clever. There's a film I watched at the cinema the other night that has one of these, the film makes the twist seem an impossibility with what it's shown you and then at the end reveals that what it's shown you previously is actually not true. It's like, OK? How is that clever or even a twist? You just straight up lied to your audience and now you want us to bask in your cleverness. There's zero point to a twist if you can't figure it out using the clues given to you, that's what makes the best twists so good, the clues are there and it relies on you to piece them together. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3HgDwEE
