Hear me out: Dude Where’s My Car is a masterpiece. Nothing if not original (at least it was at the time, being pre-Hangover), it was perfectly cast for the material and it’s paced brilliantly. It mixes the genius and absurdity of Airplane with the “why would they do this?” of all six Police Academy sequels. Laurel and Hardy - to whom this film owes much - could not have done better. In fact, I believe the “Dude! Sweet!” scene may be the only time anyone’s ever come within putting-distance of “Who’s on first?”Extra points for the way the cast committed to a script that had Razzie written all over it.Bring on the downvotes.
