What are some examples of movies that did so bad (or good) that they killed an entire genre

Gods of Egypt is often credited as the film that killed the "swords and sandals epic" genre and Godzilla 1998 (a film I personally like) is credited with temporarily killing the monster movie genre.Hunger games, on the other hand did so well that it created the teen dystopian genre which became so oversaturated with bad rip-offs that the genre was dead within three years.Can anyone else think of any other movies that killed a genre? via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3foe2Z2
