I'd like to start out by saying that the Kung Fu Panda trilogy, is one of my all time favorite trilogies, and certainly one of the greatest animated trilogies ever. Each film is thematically rich, beautifully animated, filled with humor and engaging action, and really, its just the perfect trilogy IMO. And Mr. Ping, the noodle shop owner who adopts Po, is one of the most underrated characters in the trilogy, and his relationship with Po is among the most wholesome relationships in animated movies. In the first film, he wants Po to become a noodle cook. He tells Po how he abandoned his dream of learning to make tofu to take over his father's restaurant, just like how he wants Po to take over from him. But, once Po comes back from the Jade Palace before the climactic battle to help Ping evacuate, and go to another town, even though Ping is happy Po has come back, he empathizes with him, and is genuinely sorry about how things went with respect to the whole Kung Fu thing. At the end, after Po defeats Tai Lung, he's proud of his son, Po, the Dragon Warrior. The second film is where Ping is really great. He had no business in keeping baby panda Po. He was just looking for his produce. But, he realizes that he cannot be abandoning a lost baby panda, and he brings him home, feeds him, bathes him, and finally decides to adopt him, as raise Po as his own. Even though Po is now the fearless Dragon Warrior, Ping still treats him as his son. Its so heartwarming to see the relationship between the two. The ending of this film is a beautiful moment. Even though Po reconnects with his past(his village), he reassures Ping that whatever happens, he'll remain Po, son of Ping.In the third film, Po fully reconnects with his past, as he finally meets his long lost father. Although Ping his filled with some jealousy, he's heartbroken that Po ignores him and goes behind Li. Upon hearing about Kai, he tries desperately to keep Po safe, even sneaking himself into the lunch basket and going with Po and Li to the panda village. After Li and Po fight, Ping goes and reassures Li. He lets go of his jealousy, and shows genuine happiness at the fact that Po's actual dad is there for him, for it would mean more for Po, even if it meant less for him. Ping and Li lead the villagers to help Po fight against Kai, a fight they had no business taking part in. Even after Po meets Li, his biological father, he continues addressing Ping as 'Dad', which is heartwarming to see. It shows the kind of influence that Ping's presence in Po's life has had.To conclude, the Kung Fu Panda trilogy might have a bunch of great characters, but Ping is by far the most underappreciated of the lot. His empathic, caring and proud nature deserves a special mention. And, I think credit must also go to James Hong, who voiced the character expertly throughout the trilogy, and even in the spinoff shows... via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3eWHAOi

» The Kung Fu Panda trilogy is, in my opinion, a perfect trilogy. And, Mr. Ping is one of the best characters in it.
