The townsfolk and mayor in Jaws are more believable today than in 1975.


There is a deadly public health threat that local officials and townsfolk ignore and even protest against at a council meeting because they don't want to lose business or hurt the start of tourist season. After preventable deaths and scientific evidence from qualified experts to prove the problem hasn't been solved they still continue to ignore and even encourage folks to put themselves at risk until it personally affects the mayor's kid.Too soon, Spielberg.
