IMO, Dr. Strangelove has a totally perfect ending. The film is funny all the way through, and the humour keeps building despite the stakes getting higher, until the bomb does drop, despite everyone's uh... worst? efforts, and we get to see a montage of nuclear annihilation with We'll Meet Again as the soundtrack.
