I re-watched this movie the other night for the third time and appreciated it even more. The neo-western sub-genre is becoming one of my favorites. What makes this movie work so well is the perfect execution of a simple story. Each character is well fleshed out and the dialogue is very naturalistic. The conversations between them are always engaging. Additionally, every single one of the side characters, many of whom only appear in a single scene is excellent in his/her role (one notable scene with an old restaurant waitress cracks me up every time). This adds to the spectacular atmosphere created and makes the southern setting feel much more authentic.Hell or High Water's atmosphere is definitely one of it's greatest strengths. From the moment the movie begins, you are immediately transported to West Texas. The cinematography when it comes to the vast and impressive landscapes as well the local towns is top notch. Pairing it with a fantastic soundtrack composed by Nic Cave and Warren Ellis makes for a truly immersive experience.I cannot recommend this movie enough. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/2wPJPQf
