The Fugitive (1993) is a terrific thriller

I‘m currently watching & re watching some 90s thrillers and yesterday came across The Fugitive. And in all honesty it may be one of my favourite thrillers of all time.In his review Roger Ebert said that the movie becomes more than a tense thriller, „an allegory about an innocent man in a world prepared to crush him“. The odds for Richard Kimble (Harrison Ford) seem so ridiculous, and every attempt he makes to better them seems hopeless in the scope of the situation. At a breakneck pace The Fugitive moves from one plot point to another and it never loses focus. While Ford is certainly great, I think his counterpart, Tommy Lee Jones is the mvp. He gives an absolutely chilling performance as the grumpy US marshal. I also feel like The Fugitive is a big influence on something like FX‘s Justified, it feels like an Elmore Leonard novel. The only thing I feel like is holding it back from being an all time classic is that it has edges that make it feel like more of a TV movie. For instance it‘s never able to recreate the set piece of the bus escape/accident or sewerage chase in its climax.Otherwise, I feel like it pretty much accomplishes everything it tries to accomplish. What about you? What do you think about The Fugitive (1993) ? via /r/movies https://ift.tt/2MjuGvf
