I feel like Paul Bettany is the only one in A Knight’s Tale who knew the genre of the movie

Was rewatching A Knight’s Tale after a good decade and it still holds up as kind of a cheesy 2000s comedy but everyone in this film except Bettany seems to think they’re doing a Shakespeare era period film that’s going to CannesBettany on the other hand is making jokes and light of it, and while he’s clearly meant to be the comic relief, I’ve never seen a comedy movie where EVERY other actor plays it straight.Given all the contemporary music in the soundtrack, I feel like maybe this was never intended to be a comedy and it was shot as a straight adventure movie, got mixed audience testing and then they went back to lighten it up alla Suicide SquadSide note, but it’s completely crazy that the armor smith didn’t turn out to be Heath Ledger’s main love interest at the end of the movie. Also didn’t realize she was Lydia from Breaking Bad via /r/movies https://ift.tt/39gB1BA
