Addams Family Values: The rare sequel which is superior to its predecessor.

The first movie, The Addams Family, was okay but not nearly as funny as the sequel, Addams Family Values, a lot because Paul Rudnick wrote the sequel and he added a lot of campy, bitchy humor into it whereas the first movie was played more straight.I also love how they gave Wednesday Adams more to do. Christina Ricci killed it as Wednesday and one thing they changed about her was make her more mean, more cold. The Wednesday from the comics was a seemingly sweet girl who happened to be into dark stuff, these movies have her be more moody and it fits better. Poor Pugsley was underused as usual though the Turkey scene was one of the highlights. And Joan Cusack was a blast, she stole the entire movie as Debbie Jellinsky. Just the Malibu Doll monologue was gold. I honestly feel she should have been nominated for an Oscar for that scene alone.Pity AFV was a flop back in the day but it has become a cult classic and found its audience through home video as it deserves. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/358hpMs
