I can't find anything on the internet about this... Can we take a minute to talk about Sir Patrick Stewart's accent in X-Men? He uses his natural accent. But Xavier is from New York state. Now, this doesn't really affect the character at all in the first trilogy, as it doesn't delve into Xavier's past, but is it safe to say that SPS did a good enough job that we didn't notice, or is it that we just EXPECTED him to sound a certain way (Picard). Now, along comes James McAvoy, whose Xavier we very clearly see as a child in 1944 in Westchster, New York, USA.... with an English Accent. It doesn't make any sense, other than that we are expecting him to sound English because Sir Pat made us think that's the way it should be.And the more that I think about it, the same goes for Sir Ian McKellen playing a German with an English accent. Even crazier is Michael Fassbender, who is German, playing a German with an English accent.Edit: And whats the Star Trek explanation for Jean-Luc Picard's accent? He's french. Are we just going to let Sir Patrick Stewart get away with this his entire career?? Yes. via /r/movies http://bit.ly/2M7WnFQ
