Blade 2 is the perfect 2000’s movie. Wesley Snipes, Guillermo Del Toro, and Donnie Yen take what worked well in the first movie and kick it up a few notches. Plus Norman Reedus at his best

Yeah Guillermo Del Toro. Never heard of the guy before this but man what an intro to someone who would go on to become a legend. The movie had style and coolness from the beginning off the charts. The story was decent enough but the way he put it together and the way the action unfolded was so damn cool. From the opening where they find whistler I knew it felt different than the first movie. Then the ninja infiltration scene. Holy shit who were these ninjas doing these effortless flips through the rafters. Looking back on it now the CG and animations show their age for sure but it was amazing back then. Then there is intro to the blade hit man team and Ron Perlman and Blade’s intro to eachother. That was just such a great introduction to both Perlman for me and to how funny this movie also was. The first one def didn’t have the level of humor and comedic moments blade 2 had. Then there is the legend Donnie Yen. Had no idea who this guy was either at the time but i thought, man this dude can move and fight! I loved the action in the first one but man the fight choreography of blade 2 was epic and levels beyond the first film. I didn’t realize why until years later when I put it together that Donnie Yen of course must have done the fight choreography for the film lol. I haven’t confirmed that yet but I think I’m right because that totally makes sense. Also the music. The music is such a perfect collection of 2000’s techno tracks that still absolutely hit even today, but were PERFECT for this movie at the time. The music compliments the scenery so well. Good example is that Mos def track “I against I” when blade and the hit squad were walking into the club together. Def feel like this is easily my favorite film of the franchise. It also feels like it was made so you don’t need to see the first to understand or enjoy the second but it certainly helps! Highly recommended if you want to check it out! via /r/movies https://ift.tt/qgZp2G4
