Brazilian Filmmaker Jorge Furtado discovers an Indian film that copies his movie about copying money

Weird cumbersome title, I know, but this story is so weird. I will have to explain with the best of my English skills because every news about this is in Portuguese. The article can be found here.In 2003, Furtado wrote and directed a movie called The Man Who Copied. Its plot is about a photocopier operator who decides to copy money.Furtado said that he got contacted by an Indian director called Swathi Bhaskar. Bhaskar tried to buy the rights for the screenplay, but Furtado said that they never made a decent offer so this didn't come to fruition.Jump to this year, a friend of Furtado saw that the wikipedia article for his movie mentioned another movie inspired on The Man Who Copied. That movie is called Currency. He got access to the film and realized that they essentially copied the entire screenplay. Furtado shared about this on the internet and made a comment about the movie, saying it is almost identical with slight differences (and some musical scenes that were not in the original). He then shared the link for the entire film saying " I will share the link for the movie in the comments. Download movies without permission is a crime, but I doubt they will sue me."A rough translation of what Furtado said:The man who copied the man who copied.Swathi Bhaskar is the Indian director of "Currency", a criminal copy (albeit funny) of "The Man Who Coppied". Our movie was shown at the Kerala festival in 2003 and I received an award for best direction. Since then, Indian producers contacted us with offers to buy the screenplay and film the history in India. We never made a deal (their offer was ridicule). They gave up their offers, but they still made the movie, stealing the screenplay. We found out by reading the Wikipedia that there was a movie "inspired" in our movie. This movie was in Malayalam, the dominant language of the province of Kerala. A friend of mine scraped the internet and found a copy. It is the same story, with identical sequences of our movie, but with some traditional musical scenes (at 01:08:06 there is a phenomenal clip!). The script is a little bit cheesier and I really don't know why they removed the chicken from the plot.If you want to know who are the Malayalam equivalent for Lázaro Ramos, Leandra Leal, Pedro Cardoso and Luana Piovani [actors from the original movie], I will share the link for the movie in the comments.
