Starship troopers (1997), a movie about fascism, predicted the American government’s response to 9/11.

The film revolves around a young boy rebelling against his father to fight in a war after an attack on Buenos Aires prompts a response to attack an alien race that caused it. The rest of the film satirizes how patriotic it is to fight for one’s land. It’s is a film that is famous for its portrayal of fascism. The line, “I say kill em’ all!” reflects an attitude of revenge that goes too far and hurts more than the perpetrators, extending collateral damage to race of aliens. They laugh as they make them suffer and how cool it is to serve in the military. After 9/11, people were sure that a war was going to take place. Now, 20 years later, the war on terror has all but failed its mission. Hindsight is 20/20 (or 20/21 in this case) and we can see our own failures now. But at the time, there was such a feeling of serving and giving the terrorists what they got coming to them, but in real life, it doesn’t play out like a movie. Real families, not aliens, had to suffer the wrath of American “patriotism” in the name of fighting an enemy that, to the common citizen, may have been as tangible as the alien race. We’re so used to dealing with natural disasters (clean up, get ready for the next) that we forget how to deal with unnatural disasters. So, we do not learn, but we never forget. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3EaRSVO
