I really wish Vera Farmiga was a bigger name. Sure, she's not missing any meals but I feel she's among the most talented of her generation (Blanchete/Colette/Adams/Theron/Chastain) but she's less known and isn't getting top quality roles like they're getting.

Of course she's doing the Conjuring universe but that's not even her best work but it's for sure what she's best known for among general audiences. She has an Emmy nod for Bates Motel. Only 1, what a travesty. That show was outstanding, she should have easily have at least three nods. She has an Oscar nod for Up in the Air from a decade ago. She has The Conjuring films which I won't knock but why isn't she getting the same scripts that Cate Blanchete or Amy Adams are getting their hands on. Maybe it's just me but it seems like over the past decade her she has way too many supporting roles in blockbusters like Safe House, The Commuter, Source Code.Maybe the blame just goes to Hollywood for not finding proper material for actresses in their 40s in major studio productions. She isn't opposed to doing indie film and I def respect that as she shines in them. I'm surprised she did the recent Godzilla film but I bet the paycheck was worth her while. What do you think? Is Vera a great actress? Is it crazy to think she might be getting roles that larger A-listers have exclusively for them? via /r/movies https://ift.tt/2TlJ4tk
