I find Batman Returns (1992) interesting in how it portrays the impact of violence on people, something I'd like to see more in Superhero Films. (Spoilers)

Tim Burton's Batman Returns is an Odd film to me, While not my favorite Batman film, I can't help but find it interesting while re-watching it, particularly with how it handles violence compared to it's predecessor. Now this isn't really a film that embodies those elements at face value, considering the genre this film exists in, it still has it's campy moments and larger than life story, but I feel out of all the films I've seen, Batman Returns truly captures what violence does to an individual through the Catwoman character. Her world is destroyed when she's thrown out a window and left for dead. Her transformation into Catwoman is really based on psychosis. She starts the film as a meek, soft spoken woman and ends it as someone who is completely deranged, lost and transformed. Her spirit is completely broken. The reason why I feel it's worthy is because Michelle Pfeiffer's performance does an excellent job at capturing those emotions. You really get a sense of how changed this woman's world is. You really feel the weight of the trauma she's carrying around and even understand why its made her the way its made her. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3zcFFxk
