Chiwetel Ejiofor in Infinite (2021) is a return to when actors like Alan Rickman in Robin Hood or Tommy Lee Jones in Under Siege would turn shallow villain roles into something incredible by hamming it up as much as possible.

I don't expect many people to watch this movie because it's a Paramount+ exclusive and this summer is so packed with movies (especially on streaming) which is a shame because Ejiofor is the fucking funniest villain I have seen in years. There's a boring exposition scene that becomes the best moment in the movie just because while one of his goons is giving the boring exposition, Ejiofor is laying naked in the middle of a cathedral while another goon waterboards him with gasoline because "He wants to see the face of God."This isn't even the only "waterboarding" scene he does in the movie.I think the biggest complaint people are gonna have about this movie is that Wahlberg is on autopilot. Part of me thinks Ejiofor realized this and just told the director "I'm breaking out my best Gray Oldman in Leon here and you cannot stop me."This movie is kind of forgettable as a straight-to-streaming movie in 2021 when we have so many other options but if this had been on cable in the early 00s it'd be a cult classic due entirely to Ejiofor. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3vg0Dbk
