The Sisters Brothers is an underseen Western that blends Drama, Comedy and Action to great effect to create a unique Western

I love Western movies, and whilst there have been a few great movies from the genre in the 21st century; The Assassination of Jesse James, Hostiles and True Grit to name a few, it's definitely not the most popular genre these days. The Sisters Brothers came out in 2018 and was a complete box office flop from what I've read, and although it was critically well received - I just never see it being brought up. I honestly think this is one of the best movies of the last few years - it's funnier as a Western than most comedies of the last 10 years are as full fledged comedies. Joaquin Phoenix really shines in the comedic scenes, as does Reilly but that's obviously no surprise considering the man's a comedic veteran at this point. There is an undertone of nihilism to the film that is offset by both these comedic moments and also some really touching moments between the two brothers and also Herman Warm and John Morris (played by Jake Gyllenhaal and Riz Ahmed). It's just such a joy to watch; one of those rare movies that just takes you on an unexpected ride, and although some people will complain it has 'no plot' or something along those lines, it's just refreshing to see personally. Would highly recommend anyone watches this. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3r5SaWl
