Rolo Tomassi: Guy Pearce’s perfect but dramatic poker face in ‘L.A. Confidential’

Rewatching ‘L.A. Confidential’. It’s been years since I’ve seen it. I forgot how amazing Pearce’s acting is when Dudley (James Cromwell) asks him to look into “Rolo Tomassi”, after Vincennes was murdered. For the short time the camera is on Pearce’s face you see him shift through so many emotions, seemingly without moving a muscle. Confusion about hearing a name only he would know, realization and surprise that there’s only one way Dudley could know the name, fear about what that means and then anger. All without giving up the slightest indication to anyone but the audience that he’s on to Dudley. I like Pearce as an actor but that one scene is really top talent stuff. He has said he can’t believe he was in that movie considering the cast, being that he was a relative nobody at the time. He definitely brought it for that movie. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3ctCt7g
