Films That Were Negatively Reevaluated

We often times talk about movies that were poorly received at the time of their release but whose critical evaluation improved over time. What about films that had the opposite trajectory? What examples of films can you think of that were initially positively received but have been negatively reevaluated over time?I know that society's opinion of some films has turned negative due to changing social norms (e.g. the original The Birth of a Nation) or the actions of actors or directors after the film was made (e.g. Roman Polanski's films). While these types of movies are interesting in their own right, I think its more fascinating to hear about movies whose reputations have declined over time for other reasons. One that comes to mind is Diamonds Are Forever, Sean Connery's last Eon Productions James Bond film. At the time of its release, it got positive reviews and was considered a decent action flick. In the present day, it is almost universally considered to be one of the 3 to 5 worst James Bond films ever made. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/2OmcTrz
