I'm a huge Stephen King fan and The Shining is one of my favourite movies of all time. I was hesitant to watch Doctor Sleep for a long time, especially since I was not a big fan of the recent It adaptations (it's an incredibly difficult story to adapt though so I have sympathy). But I have to say Mike Flanagan did an excellent job. He found the right balance of nostalgia and a storyline that is contemporary without trying to imitate Kubrick's style. Grown up Danny Torrance walking through the deserted Overlook hotel was one of the most fascinating experiences I've had while watching a film. And while Ewan McGregor was predictably solid in his role, the big revelation to me was 14 year old Kyliegh Curran - it's so difficult to find good, convincing child actors but her performance really surprised me, I hope she has a great career ahead of her.If you're a fan of the original film and somehow missed this one, I cannot recommend it enough. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3r8x1eF
