Dennis Hopper’s performance in Blue Velvet was one of the most disturbing things I’ve seen in a while and I’ve watched a lot of Lynch recently

I’ve been on a bit of a Lynch kick lately, starting with Dune (I know, I know) then moved on to Eraserhead and then Mulholland Drive. Trying to keep the ball rolling, last night I decided to watch Blue Velvet for the first time - I’m gonna try to avoid spoilers, but I absolutely have to talk to someone, anyone, about Dennis Hopper’s performance as Frank. How did he not get more awards for his performance? Holy mother of god. “That” scene, to avoid spoilers, was probably the most uncomfortable scene I’ve seen since the last time I watched Oldboy. Like, I had a literal what the actual fuck reaction to it - that’s not new for David Lynch movies, but this was a whole new level. And Hopper just owned that role so convincingly that I was nervous literally every time he was on screen. How did other people react to this movie, and especially Dennis Hopper’s acting? I need to process this lol. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/381yAno
