What are the odds that the Doc Brown that calls Marty McFly in the beginning of the film is from the future?

I'm not sure if this is just obvious and it flew way over my head all these years.Do you think that the Doc Brown who calls Marty McFly in the beginning of Back To The Future is actually from the future?It sounds like he is making sure Marty gets out the door at a certain time to set things in motion for the reality he wants to keep. The first thing Marty does after that is meet one of his villains, Mr. Strickland.
