Re-watched Aliens recently and was reminded of how amazing the practical effects are in this movie.

Having not seen this movie in a while, I was really impressed by how well it holds up. Mainly due to numerous fantastic sets that were built and the practical creature designs. The locations all feel a lot more real when compared to many CGI created worlds.The marines slowly moving through the increasingly destroyed colonist outpost, eventually reaching the alien hive is Cameron at his best.As for the aliens, they look great, especially the Alien Queen. The large scale puppet/model works very well. The fight between the Alien Queen and Ripley in the Power Loader (which appears to be a fully functioning piece of engineering) feels realistic because the loader's movements have weight to them and are clunky as opposed to flashy. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3iGGLct
