Phantasm was way ahead of its time, with the unique blend of sci fi and horror, it truly makes a great combo. It was such a new approach to horror

The quality was just amazing, as much as horror wasn’t at its peak like rn, it was just the overall story telling and setting that really got it going. The director did a quality job for such little effects in the movie, and the soundtrack really immersed you into the film, it’s weird to say this but it really was an immersive movie, and the soundtrack brought in feelings that you typically don’t feel with any normal movies...The sci fi and the magical elements in this movie makes it so unreal for a movie in the late seventies. Angus scrim did an awesome job acting as the villain, the loud footsteps, his demeanor, his voice, make you realize they’re all doomed during this movie. The characters were all really cool, especially the kid. I like how it teaches you a lesson about fear, that it’s all in your head, you react to it, it magnifies itself tenfold. Like the scene where he stuck his hand in the box (for those that saw the scene). It’s a valuable lesson. It was just one of those underrated gems I guess, it was creative, unique, cool, and something completely different. I definitely think the director managed to pull it off soundly when he mixed sci fi technology with medieval technology. The flying ball, the knives and blades, and that portal. To those that like blending different elements in movies, defiantly check this one out, it’s amazing. As I leave, I just wanted to let you guys know that also if you can recommend me films sorts like this, I am 100% down for suggestions. Let me know your thoughts and opinions about this movie. I’m interested via /r/movies https://ift.tt/39iOg56
