Rocky was one of those franchises that became tired over time and had nothing much to add to the story/lore of the series. But with Creed (2015), not only did the franchise make a solid comeback, it also serves an example of how to continue a franchise well.Creed and Creed 2 added interesting new characters (Adonis, Bianca and Viktor are all well done), respected the previous protagonists and developed their arcs well with the newer ones, and in general were just well written movies out to provide good entertainment. They dont try to outdo the previous movies in terms of scale, they dont focus on setting up sequels or prequels or spinoffs and they build on the same themes the franchise explores earlier.It's all just good and smart filmmaking that is out to provide a good, and at times emotional experience.
