Anyone else use an inflation calculator to understand how much money the characters are talking about in today's currency?

For example, in the movie Goodfellas, Jimmy gives everyone $100 when he walks into a bar which translates into $660 in today's dollars from 1970 (when the movie was set and not when it was made) back in the day. That's much more than I originally thought.
