So, I finished watching “The Wicker Man” (1973) for the first time, and....*insert Patrick Star jaw drop face*.

I had heard it was pretty mind blowing, but this was nothing I expected. I won’t spoil if you haven’t seen it, but HOLY HELL. My jaw was on the floor for the majority of the film. I’m a big Stanley Kubrick fan, and if you like his works, this is one up your alley. The subtext, as well as the religious tones really got my mind racing. I’m a Christian myself, and I found all of this to be extremely fascinating; my mind is still blown as I’m typing this! I read that some call it the “citizen kane of horror”, and I definitely see why. One of my favorite films is Straw Dogs, with Dustin Hoffman; maybe it’s because it’s an early 70s British film, but I definitely got a big Straw Dogs vibe with the film, where it feels like the whole town is in on it to see your demise until the end and it gives you the heeby jeebies every single second of it....and I LOVE THAT! I cannot recommend this film enough to those who enjoy suspense, mystery, and the bizzare! Now to listen to “The Wicker Man” by Iron Maiden. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/2VD5N1u
