Network (1976) is a must watch now more than ever before

I watched Network last night and the stories it tells about television and how showbusiness even finds its way into the news are so poignant today when objective truth has been set aside for entertainment and narratives.Outside of the themes, the movie itself holds up surprisingly well. The writing and pacing still holds up nicely, and the references aren't too hard to catch even 44 years later. The camerawork is very involving and the cast are extremely talented at looking with intent. That said, it is clearly a satirical melodrama. It is not realism by any stretch, and the characters all speak in monologues laced with words that require googling. This makes it a bit tiring to watch. But it is tremendous."Television isn't the truth, television is a circus" via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3erlGAx
