Christian Bale plays a disabled Civil War veteran turned rancher who agrees to escort an infamous criminal to a train that will take him to prison. It's a very nuanced performance, because Bale gives you the strong-but-silent type without making the character boring or detached. The criminal is played briliantly by Russell Crowe, who injected a lot of dark humor into the role while staying away from the joke-a-minuteTM you see so often today. Then you have Ben Foster, who plays Crowe's insane second-in-command who does everything in his power to try and free his boss. It's a great movie, beautifully shot, well-acted, with a great soundtrack. The plot was high stakes, many of the "good guys" were alright at best, and the action was cool and watchable. Even if you don't normally watch Westerns, I reccomend you give it a shot. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/2XwNX2I
