Regular commercials before movies in theaters are getting out of hand

My girlfriend and I went and saw 1917 not too long ago. Great movie. But before the movie started, there were 17 minutes of regular commercials. These started at the time our tickets said the movie would start, which was 3:30. And I'm talking just regular-ass commercials here - paper towels, coca-cola, medications, that sort of thing. It wasn't until 3:47 that the previews started. The movie probably didn't start until around 4:00, after one last advertisement from the movie theater to try to get people to work there, which showed after the previews right before the movie started. How much money do theaters get for this I wonder? I absolutely hate being advertised to, and while I realize that previews have always been there and they are advertisements too, they are at least somewhat relevant to moviegoers in general. It makes me never want to pay to go to the movies again. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3cYSHDC
