Been itching to rewatch this lately. I really love how perfectly it accomplishes what it was trying to do. It's meant to be a throwback to 50s alien invasion horror movies, but done in modern day and incorporating modern filmmaking techniques, and it does so flawlessly. It represents the very idea of the difference between the genres of horror and thriller, and I've always considered it a perfect example of thriller. It's not trying to shock you, it's trying to prolonge a sense that something bad is always coming. There are some notorious shocking moments as well, but they're to always reinforce that idea, just in case you thought things might be okay. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/2TcLvdK
