"At least 17 members of the Academy have not yet watched Parasite because they 'don’t want to deal with subtitles'", as per Will Mavity co-host of The Next Best Picture Podcast

Source: As part of his podcasting duties, Will Mavity is in regular contact with various Academy members, and he heard it from someone who's in the producers branch of the Academy. Not that "Parasite" would necessarily win Best Picture even if every Academy member watched it, but at least it'd have a fairer chance. And really, while I don't expect Academy members to watch everything that's nominated, if they're going to vote in the biggest Oscar category of all, they should at least watch every nominee in it.Perhaps Neon should've released a dubbed version of "Parasite" to bolster its award chances. Heck, have Meryl Streep voice every character in it! Plus, I'd watch that!*Disclaimer: "Parasite" isn't actually my preference to win Best Picture, that would be "Little Women". And likely Best Pic winner "1917" affected and moved me far more than "Parasite" did. It's just that this alleged reason for these Academy members not considering one of the Best Pic nominees pisses me off. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/396lfrU
