I don't get the bad score on Rotten Tomatoes. It was my favorite Christmas movie as a kid, and I just rewatched it after a fairly long time. Now that I am old enough to appreciate all the jokes etc., I can say that the movie is actually, genuinely pretty great. Not only the situations are funny, but the whole plot is original for a Christmas movie, and the Arnold/Sinbad duo is really fun. Moreover, and it is something I never picked up as a kid (understandably), the movie is touching. The way it deals with the father/son relationship, how far a dad can go for his kid, and the underlying message that the two dads (Arnold and Sinbad) do want the best for their kids. Two very different people, but with the same goal: to please their kid.*SPOILER*I also like the fact that Sinbad gets the toy at the end. I might be extrapolating, but we can assume that maybe his kid will have a happy life "because of that". Earlier in the movie, Sinbad explains how his neighbor got the toy he wanted for Christmas, and went on to become a successful CEO, while he did not have the toy, and apparently did not have a very successful life. So at the end, Jamie (Jake Lloyd) is happy (his dad "is" TurboMan), and Sinbad's kid's gonna be happy too. We can assume, I guess, that consequently, both kids will have successful lives. Extrapolating a bit, but it is kinda nice to think about it this way I think :)Also the post-credit scene hahaha*END OF SPOILER*Really good Christmas movie, funny, fun, original, and actually pretty smart. One of my very favorite Christmas movies. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/2ENtb45
