The Hunt (2020) didn’t deserve all the controversy it received

I never got the chance to see The Hunt in theaters last year due to theaters shutting down and it pretty much fell off my watch radar until it became available to stream on HBO Max a few days ago. I remember hearing how people were saying it had an agenda against conservatives or something like that so I decided to give it a watch and boy did people blow this controversy out of proportion.I thought the movie was evenly balanced at satirizing our current political climate. You have the out of touch, wealthy, elite liberals who never struggled a day in their lives talking about “privilege” and the right-wing kooks who spread wacky conspiracy theories that become more ridiculous every year (Think QAnon or Pizzagate).I also like how the movie was put together. The beginning was clever at making us believe certain people were the main protagonists (before being viscously killed off). I also liked the end fight between Betty Gilpin and Hillary Swank in that manor (or vacation house).I also liked the twist that “the Hunt” was only really because the conspiracy theorists made it real. It just made things more interesting than another retread of “The Most Dangerous Game.”In the end, The Hunt was a lot of fun and I’m glad I saw it. It’s just a shame some people couldn’t look past the surface and see the satire underneath. They were acting like the people this movie was mocking with little self awareness. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3xMfNaB
