Question for anyone who saw Elf (2003) in theaters

This is probably a long shot but my family still talks about it every year so I'm curious to know if there's anyone out there in the world who shared this experience. When we first saw Elf in theaters we saw a messed up version of it with every scene having the mics and booms visible at the top of the screen. One of the most memorable moments from this was during the scene they sing in the bathroom we were able to see that Zoeey Deschanel was wearing a skin-colored tube top in the shower.. that blew my mind as a 10 year old! It was as if the film was supposed to be cropped to be widescreen but an unfinished copy was shipped to the theater....So if you saw Elf when it first came out in theaters did you see a normal version? I'm just curious if this was just a one time incident at the specific theater we saw it at and it will live on only in our memories or if it was a problem anywhere else in the world via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3meM8QF
