It's a belief I've had since Avengers: Infinity War, and one that's grown stronger with each new movie I've seen. It's a trend I've seen taking hold, and one that's starting to get annoying. Having a Villain with a tragic backstory isn't necessary to make them great. Their actions on the screen are what's gonna be front and center and what they're remembered for.Of course I'm not saying all Villains should be cold and mysterious, but it's a trope that's being leaned on heavily as of late. Scenes with the Joker, Hans Gruber and Scar wouldn't have been enhanced if we found out how they lost a loved one or faced a traumatic event. Sometimes bluntness is exactly what a Villain needs. Sometimes the Bad Guy is simply the Bad Guy. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3274dZT
