I watched Atlantis when it first came out, but at that age, I neither appreciated it nor did I understand properly understand it. Rewatching it now, made me appreciate its art style and the storyline. The most fascinating part is that it is a movie for children that also appeals to adults too.Unlike how I noticed when I was younger there are a lot of scenes of sexual nature, that my younger self couldn’t understand. They are implemented into the movie in a way that adults can understand with out children understanding. There are jokes in the movie, which are cheesy for adults but quite funny for children. Another part is the deaths, so many people die in the movie (not considering the fist part where Atlantis sinks), when the submarine is attacked by the leviathan, when the fireflies start burning the camp, when they fall down the volcano, and at the end of the where they all fight. The deaths are hidden from view, hard for children to notice and still obvious to adults to understand the stake of the characters. The animation is weird and some might not like it, but it is weirdly eye catching. Even in scenes Where characters only talk, my brother who usually gets bored quickly watched without complaining I can’t be completely sure why but it was probably because of the animations and background of the movie. There are some major plot holes in the movie, like Kida not being able to turn on the flying fish machines in 8000 years, but still acceptable considering it’s a movie for children. All in all, if you are looking to watch a movie with family Atlantis: The Lost Empire is in my opinion a perfect movie. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/2F0CAJD
