Are there any movie series where the sequel tells the same story, but from a different characters perspective?

With the lack of creativity in the recent remaking of movies, I’ve wondered why the stories aren’t told from another perspective. The lion king 1 1/2 actually does this concept quite true to my definition. Rouge 1 also touches on this idea of detailing a known but not detailed event. It seems like a common idea to exploit favorable characters in franchises, with spinoffs and merch, but why not expand on them within the capacity we already understand.
