I have rewatched Alien Covenant 4 or 5 times and have enjoyed it each time despite its flaws. There is no doubt that the scientists make stupid mistakes. But I tend to overlook them. The film works overall as a scheme by David to signal any passerby ship and then hijack it.Two things really standout. Firstly, Fassbender is magnificent as David and Walter. He is perfect in every frame of the movie where even some of his simple scenes like cutting his hair or remembering Elizabeth are more disturbing/creepy than the xenomorph scenes. Even as the obedient yet curious Walter, Fassbended nails it. Secondly, the tone of the movie. Ridley is a master in creating atmosphere and Alien Covenant does scary/uncomfortable really well.I feel David's creator complex and his goal to become godlike is a very interesting subject and more time could have been given to that.On the whole Covenant is a fun film. It gets a lot of flak and it certainly isnt close to Alien or Aliens in quality, but it tries something different and works mostly. It's a shame we wont get a sequel because the movie ends on a hell of a cliffhanger. What does David do next? via /r/movies https://ift.tt/2F6qQoN
