Hating on film critics for disliking your favorite director's new movie is childish

Film critics are literally just people, like the audience, the only thing that separates the two is that critics get paid to properly articulate their thoughts on the film through an article. I'm always astonished about how people pick and choose when to validate a reviewer's opinion. In no way am I saying they know it all or you should listen to them, but recently I've noticed is that if a critic says: “Nolan's new sci-fi film is a mindblowing story for the ages," everyone is quick to say: "Well, of course, it's Nolan." However, if it was the other way around it's: "Well Interstellar had a 72 and that was perfect, don't listen to these dumb critics." Yes, you should form your own opinion and not let others steer you in a certain direction, but if you're going to push aside a critic's opinion, make sure it's not just when they don't like your favorite director's new movie.I feel like this mostly applies to certain filmmakers who have such a "die-hard" fan base behind them, you know the ones that even if they make a bad film, their fans will choose to pass it as a good movie. The obvious ones being, Nolan, Tarantino, Wes Anderson, and PTA. (I personally love all these guys, I'm just picking them because it's most applicable in the situation I'm referring to)That being said, form your own opinion, but don’t shoot down critics for making a negative comment on your favorite filmmaker's upcoming movie. I’m sure we all have some unpopular options on films that are considered masterpieces among audiences and critics. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3hjgGPD
