spoilers of course.Andrew was initially tricked into performing a piece that he did not prepare for, but eventually he plays a very impressive solo to the point where Fletcher becomes immersed and guides him. The ending cuts when he finishes his solo. Here's a clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2TAfvMn8_EQ.It can be interpreted as a happy ending because Andrew has finally impressed Fletcher and reached top level drummer status. Meanwhile Fletcher has finally crafted his own Charlie Parker. They're both happy with what has been achieved. But it can be considered depressing when you consider what would have probably happened after. After the solo, Andrew's still out of music school, and he's still unemployed and is someone who merely drum as a hobby. And to consider that he's destroyed all of his relationships and career just to reach the validation of someone who has tormented him is quite astounding. It's a great ending. I'm glad they cut it here and didn't continue the story. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/2WF3jkF
