What is a movie where you consistently expected for something to happen but it never did?

For me I would say this applies to The Other Guys. Dwayne Johnson and Sam Jackson are in the first 10 -15 minutes and then they (spoilers) fall to their deaths. It was really funny but the first time I saw this I was convinced they would come back in some way as villains since they were too big of actors to have such a small role.
