If this opinion has been posed before, I apologize. Still rings true.The Last Samurai is fully underrated.The acting, direction, cinematography, set design, backgrounds, costuming are all top notch. Everyone involved seems to me at least, to have given their best performance. Stand out stars to me besides the obvious Ken Wantanabe. Hiroyuki Sanada and Koyuki are completely believable and fully involved. Particular scenes show what acting is in its purest and natural form. I realize Tom Cruise has fallen out of favor but even Maverick put in his all for this movie. It may be his best work.I think this movie still holds up and if you have a young person in your life asking for a viewing list, maybe move away from the standard top ten and add this one in without leading them and discuss their thoughts. It shows war, elitism, racism, in a classist society, regardless of its historical validity or accuracy, I think it is a must watch. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/2TOX2BO
