I am not referring to merely a plot twist in the sense of say, something M Night Shyamalan would write - movies like The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable contain very heavy-hitting twists that change the way you look at aspects of the movie, but they do not modify the entire movie's fundamental image and themes. This is what is so noteworthy about the twist of Shutter Island in my opinion - it's so all-encompassing of nearly every element of the film, that's it transcends plot twist, and becomes a genre twist. The majority of the movie is a tense psychological thriller - but the end of the movie is a drama, completely and utterly. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3cLqlwh
