I feel like Room (2015) doesn't get talked about enough. Legitimately one of the best movies I've ever seen.

It may be recency bias as I just watched it for the first time, but holy shit what an experience. Obviously I knew Brie Larson would be incredible in it but from the way I've heard it discussed I always assumed she was carrying an otherwise mediocre movie. That couldn't be further from the truth. Jacob Tremblay turns in an all-time great performance. The first hour of the movie is truly some of the most anxiety/nausea-inducing suspense I've ever felt from a movie and the second hour is such a brutally devastating depiction of PTSD and recovery from trauma. I expected the vast majority of the movie to be about escaping and then they'd have a cursory montage in the final minutes of them in the hospital and everybody going home to be happy together forever. I'm so glad I was wrong. I'm not sure I could emotionally handle watching it again, but this movie will stick with me for a long, long time. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/39EuYGu
