The Social Network (2010) Words per Second

It’s rumored that when filming The Social Network, director David Fincher went over to Aaron Sorkin’s house with a stopwatch. Fincher timed how long it took Sorkin to read each scene in his head, and that time was to serve as a strict guideline for each scene.By parsing subtitle files (.srt's), I was able to track the words per second of The Social Network and some of its Bostonian counterparts. I plot the entire movie lengths in the top chart, and zoom in on the first 600 seconds in the frame below it. The opening scene, which took 99 takes to perfect, gets off 1202 words in the first 314 seconds of the film for an average of 3.83 words per second.Fincher’s movie moves along at a blazingly fast 2.51 words per second, compared to Good Will Hunting with the next fastest 2.01 words per second.https://ift.tt/2LCrl9g via /r/movies https://ift.tt/2HRvchx
