Carmen and Juni Cortez from the Spy Kids films are likely the results of teen pregnancies

TLDR: Based on how long Grandpa Valentin says he's been looking for the Toymaker, how long Carmen says it's been since the Toymaker put Valentin in the wheelchair, and the fact that Valentin says being in a wheelchair made him miss his daughter's birth, we must assume that Carmen and Juni were conceived while their mother was a teenager. Let's get something out of the way first: the story presented to us in the beginning of the first Spy Kids movie is clearly not reliable. It's presented as a bedtime story told by Ingrid Cortez to her children, so of course she's going to romanticize it, especially if she's trying to conceal the fact that she got pregnant when she was a teenager. So how do I know that Ingrid got pregnant with Carmen and Juni when she was in her teens? Let's review the evidence. First, let's establish the age of Ingrid Cortez in Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over. Carmen and Valentin both say that the event that put Valentin in a wheelchair occurred 30 years before the events of Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over. Later, Valentin tells the Toymaker that being in a wheelchair caused him to miss his daughter's (Ingrid's) birth. This means, that in Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over, Ingrid Cortez is 30 years old maximum. Now, let's figure out how old Carmen and Juni are in Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over. According to Wikipedia, Carmen and Juni are 12 and 9 respectively in the first film and 13 and 10 in the second.. Following this pattern, we can reasonably assume that in Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over, Carmen and Juni are at least 14 and 11 years old. All of this means that, unless Valentin had another daughter that nobody ever mentioned, Ingrid Cortez got pregnant with Carmen when she was at most 16 years old, and then had Juni when she was 19.Thanks for coming to my TED talk. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/2NgHdkX
